Herts Action on Disability
HAD is a charity delivering innovative, affordable, practical services to older and disabled people across the South East.
We are proud to have worked in partnership with the organisation for over two years now. The team is dedicated to providing helpful, impartial, friendly assistance to any inquiry they receive.
They run a fully Accessible 24/7 Transport Service and provide our “Station to Station Accessible Transport”. The team are fully qualified with a six-strong fleet of adapted, wheelchair-friendly, fully accessible vehicles, transporting disabled people to work, doctor’s appointments, shopping, holidays and other leisure activities 365 days a year.
Other services include:
Equipment Centre
HAD’s HQ is at the Woodside Centre in Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire and they provide a wide range of products and friendly advice for disabled people, their families and carers. It is run by Occupational Therapists and a team of Trusted Assessors who will give you expert assessments and advice in friendly, relaxed and comfortable surroundings.
Driving Centre
The Driving Centre is fully accreted as a member of the Forum of Mobility Centres. They provide driving assessments and tuition. These Assessments help you return to driving or assist with getting the right adaptations. Driving tuition is available for disabled learner drivers or drivers re-training to use adaptations.
They also have a dedicated team who provide Information and Advice. If they don’t know the answer they will find it for you! Along side this HAD also offer a Counselling Service for disabled people, friends, family and carers. All the counsellors are fully qualified and some are indeed disabled themselves.
