Question number 152

From Mr Don Sloane

Q

R Q134 Thanks for your reply but you didn't answer why uncessary types of tickets are offered as " walk-up tickets" in the first place. Am I missing something? What does an "anytime" ticket offer me above and beyond what an "off peak" ticket does on a Saturday afternoon? If you need to offer both as they are set types of tickets during the week then surely at the weekend if they are no different then they must be the same price otherwise your diddling customers.

A

Thank you again for your comments, but there customers who require anytime tickets even at the weekend, due to the nature of their return journey.

As stated earlier we are looking at the positioning of the various ticket types within these ticket machines.

Question number 150

From Mr Peter Skuce

Q

I am quite a fan of the former WAGN Railway refurbished Class 317/6 EMU fleet - the interiors are based on the Class 365 Networker Express and feature 2+2 seating throughout, space for wheelchais and cycles, plus improved interior saloon lighting diffusers. It would be nice to see the twelve Class 317 that work on the Great Northern sector be refurbished to this high standard and fitment of an RVAR curved teardrop style universal accessible toilet, which would replace one standard normal toilet (there are two on each Class 317) and around twelve seats to the 2+1 layout in First Class at one end of the train.

A

Thanks Peter but there are no plans for this type of refurbishment in the franchise.

Question number 149

From Mr Jonathan Morris

Q

In the last month, there seem to have been some major problems at Hatfield with regards to taxis and buses. In fact, I have been told by someone in the know that there's a serious problem with illegal taxis and nobody caring to do much about it.

As a result, at least one bus operator has decided enough is enough (that is taxis parking in the bus stops) and has been making a concerted effort to cause as much congestion as possible, blocking the entrance and exits to the station to 'prove a point'. Yet, the taxis continue to stack up both in the taxi rank and pretty much anywhere they can stop - a bus stop, on double yellows, the bus stands.

Who is responsible for making sure the taxis are controlled and don't get in the way of buses or indeed ordinary car users who want to park in the southern car park?

A

We issue the taxi permits for Hatfield. I will pass the information on to the responsible persons. Thank you

Question number 148

From Mr Chris Gregory

Q

Farringdon - specifically the new footbridge. With the frequent cross London closures of the TL line in the past and the now frequent suspension of LU services at the weekend it is surprising that no further progress is being made on the footbridge at Farringdon. What is the planned completion date for this work?

A

Thank you for your comment.

Work outstanding on the footbridge itself includes installation of internal stainless steel and glass, permanent Terrazo flooring, and glass panels on the stairs to platforms 2, 3 & 4.

Much of this work is scheduled to be done by September 2010, with full completion currently projected for early 2011.

Question number 147

From Mr Safeguarded Travel

Q

Reference your scant response to my question: 94

The action necessary when FCC as the SFO for Luton are unable to provide a service from the Help Point All Staff Busy at the ticket gate line at Platform 5 resulting in my being trapped unable to exit the station will just have to continue.

Simply: If you cant mange this gate line, demonstrated by no customer service because All Staff Busy, AND the gates are closed then I have no alternative but to continue to make use of the -Self Service- All Gates Open Plunger.

It is clear from your response today at question 94 that FCC are obviously very happy this arrangement.

Good Afternoon

A

Thank you and good afternoon
