Thameslink services / discount & refund details
In recognition of the disruption and the inconvenience caused for Thameslink customers, we have announced further discounts and refunds on top of our compensation scheme Delay Repay.

Thameslink Customer Discount Offer and Refund Scheme

Following the disruption to services on the Thameslink route affected season ticket holders are being offered discounted tickets and refunds. This is in addition to the delay-repay compensation scheme which can be used when a service has been delayed by 30 minutes or more.

Summary of offer
Annual season ticket holders: Will be entitled to claim either a 5% discount off their next purchase (equivalent to over 2 weeks free travel) or tickets for 10 days free travel.

Monthly season ticket holders: Will be entitled to claim either a 50% discount off their next monthly card following the start of the scheme (equivalent to 2 weeks free travel) or tickets for 10 days free travel.

Weekly ticket holders:
- with four weeks of tickets during the period: Will be entitled to claim tickets for 5 days free travel.
- with eight or more tickets during the period will be entitled to claim ticket for 10 days free travel.

First Class ticket holders: Will additionally be entitled to claim for a refund of the difference between First Class and standard fare for the period 12 November 2009 to 23 January 2010 when First Class accommodation was declassified.

Please note: Discounts will be available when buying at First Capital Connect stations and online from the FCC website. Where tickets are purchased at non-First Capital Connect Thameslink outlets we will only be able to offer free tickets.

Please retain old tickets or proof of purchase in order to validate claims.

King's Cross closed until 0830 and early morning/late night alterations on other routes

When 22 November 2009 to 22 November 2009
What

Until approximately 0830, buses will replace trains between London King's Cross and Finsbury Park. Where buses replace trains, journey times will be extended by up to 15 minutes.

Also;

Until approximately 0830, services towards London will not call at Hatfield or Welham Green. Buses will operate from Welwyn Garden City to Potters Bar, calling at Hatfield and Welham Green. Where buses replace trains, journey times will be extended by up to 15 minutes. Trains from London will call at Welham Green and Hatfield as normal.

Also;

Until approximately 0915, trains towards Kings Cross will be unable to call at Hornsey or Harringay. Times of these trains will be unaffected at other stations. The first trains to serve these stations will be:

  • 0858 Welwyn Garden City to London King's Cross
  • 0912 Hertford North to London King's Cross

Also;

Until approximately 0930, buses will replace trains between Alexandra Palace and Stevenage via Hertford North. Journey times will be extended by up to 60 minutes. The first trains to London to operate normally will be:

  • 0912 Hertford North to London King's Cross
  • 0929 Stevenage to London King's Cross
Alternative arrangements

(First Capital Connect tickets will be accepted for travel on these routes): Please use local bus routes W3 and 29 to access Harringay and Hornsey.

No trains through Central London and other alterations

What

No trains will operate across Central London. Trains will still run to/from London Bridge (from the south) and St Pancras International (from the north) as follows:

  • Brighton route: Trains will operate between London Bridge and Brighton.
  • Sutton route: Trains will operate to/from London Bridge. Trains will run non stop between London Bridge and Tulse Hill then call at all stations via Wimbledon to West Sutton. Buses will operate in both directions between Blackfriars and Tulse Hill calling at all stations.
  • Bedford route: Trains will operate in both directions between St Pancras International and Bedford with both stopping and limited stop services operating. Until approximately 0830, buses will replace trains between Elstree & Borehamwood and Luton and journey times will be extended by up to 60 minutes.
Alternative arrangements

(First Capital Connect tickets can be used for travel on these routes):The following alternatives will be available:

Crossing and travelling to/from Central London: Please use the following routes:

  • Northern Line between Kentish Town, Euston, London Bridge and Elephant & Castle. Euston is a 10 minute walk from London St Pancras or a 10 minute journey, including interchange on the Victoria Line.
  • Hammersmith & City Line between King's Cross St Pancras and  Farringdon
  • Bus route 45 between Blackfriars and St Pancras International
  • Bus routes 63 or N63 between Elephant & Castle, Blackfriars, Farringdon and St Pancras International

Circle, Hammersmith & City, Jubilee and Metropolitan line services will be affected by engineering work. Blackfriars Tube is closed until late 2011. Please check journeyplanner.tfl.gov.uk for information on any engineering work that may affect the Tube on this date. Please allow at least 40 minutes to cross Central London. Outside the Tubes hours of opening, buses will operate between St Pancras International and London Bridge.

Blackfriars to Tulse Hill: Replacement buses will operate in both directions between Blackfriars and Tulse Hill calling at all stations.

West Sutton to Sutton: Please use local bus services
